File download questions for Raspberry Pi
-
Hello,
I am a newbie and have a few questions regarding the file download for RetroPie itself for Raspberry Pi-
Does the download file come with Raspbian Stretch, or is that separate?
-
If separate, Raspbian Stretch installs first, then you use the same SD card and install RetroPie on it?
-
In the instructions here for installation, it says that if you are unsure which version of Raspberry Pi you have, you can count the raspberries on boot, with one raspberry for Raspberry Pi 0/1 ((Model A, A+, B, B+) and four raspberries for Raspberry Pi 2/3.
When is this first boot done? New out of box board with no SD card?
If I plan on using a Raspberry Pi 3 B+, what version would that be? Part of me thinks the first version (because of the B+) and part thinks the second version (Because of the 'Pi 3' part)
Thanks!

RetroPie is not an OS, the image provided is based on Raspbian Stretch (the Lite version, without Desktop), so once you install the image, you'll be running Raspbian Stretch as your OS - no need to install anything else.

Not needed, the installation image comes with Raspbian.

You'll need the second version, the one for Pi2/Pi3.

Perfect! Thanks!
I thought that Raspbian Stretch was part of the download, just wanted to make sure.
I plan on building a bartop arcade cabinet and using the Raspberry Pi with RetroPie with it.Thanks again!
