Just added Dosbox to RetroPie and went to find the games ive got in boxes upstairs. The games ive downloaded have install batch files. Remembered back to my youth when I used to play games on the PC you could install the game to any drives/folder but the game would also slightly modify the root of c:

remember Nascar back in the early 90s. We tried copying the directories and files as they were on the technicians computer at school. Took the stack of floppies home and put them where they should be and the game didnt work. The techie after told us that it changed a few files in the system and needed to be installed.

Is it a case of finding an installed version and running that or do the games need installing to the Pi?

    Thanks.
    David.

It's both - if you have an already installed version, then you can copy it to the game's folder, but if you copy the installer (and the games needs to be installed), then you'll have to install the game.

DosBox is exactly like a PC - you'd do the same steps as you would have done on a real DOS system back in the day.

@vasquez109 the PC-Engine was a great console made by NEC in the late 80s.
It was not distributed in Europe, but in the USA with the name "Turbografx".
It has nothing in common with IBM / MS-Dos PCs.
