I am trying to fix up a script from zerojay's "RetroPie-Extra" repository, and I need to know what does --strip-components=1 mean?

      Don't sweat it.
When in doubt, take a BYTE out of life.

      😎

        In the tar manual

        man tar

--strip-components=NUMBER strip NUMBER leading components from file names on extraction

        eg path1/path2/file becomes path2/file
