Installed Waveshare 5" HDMI LCD, No sound output 3.5mm jack [SOLVED]

Hi, how can I get the sound output via 3.5mm jack? Im using the waveshare 5" LCD with HDMI connector? I tried to update the audio settings in Retropie to use 3.5mm. But wont let me change it to that option.

sudo nano /boot/config.txt

add hdmi_drive=2 to the end

See if that works. if not, try this and see sudo amixer cset numid=3 1

Could you pm me where you got it from? Looking to buy one of those as well, that was way fast shipping, weren't you having trouble with a kedei screen just a few days ago?

Thanks for your reply, seems it didnt work. And yes my volume is turned up in retropie. I keep getting some error when trying to force audio via 3.5mm in raspi-config

got it working, it seems i have to go to terminal and have to load the driver.

sudo modprobe snd-bcm2835

but i have to do it everytime i reboot

any way to make the automatically load?

is this a clean install of retropie 3.7?

check your /boot/config.txt and see if you have this enabled in there;

dtparam=audio=on

@senkun Yes I have a kedei screen 3.5", but wanted something for retropie as I could not get the 3.5" to work. Yes. very fast shipping... this person shipped it in 1 day. got it for $20 w/free shipping. Even came with some kind of 3d printed enclosure, that the lcd and pi fit into which was not in the item description on ebay.

@senkun Cant figure how to PM someone , but i got it on ebay from an individual, not a normal seller. Id say I got lucky with one. The description said "5" for Raspberry Pi HDMI LCD 800x480 Pixel XPT2046 Touch Controller
I know nothing about these so please look at photos - this has not been tested and as is"

Yeah I thought we had pm, I just checked but can't find any way. I thought nodebb had pm somehow.

but like i said, it was sold from an individual who had no idea about it, they didnt even know it had a screen on the other side, they thought it was just a piece of electronics, lol.
