Start into Kodi from boot not supported in Ubuntu
-
Hello All
I would like to start into Kodi from boot with Retropie installed under Ubuntu but it appears that in the code if you have a desktop environment (X11) that it doesn't give you the option. Only option is to start into Retropie.
Is there a method that I could implement to make this happen? Thank you in advance.

@RunsOnRum look up autostarting applications on x11 on Linux. You can create a
.desktop
file in the~/.config/autostart
folder to start Kodi in the same way as retropie starts. Kodi has a wiki page on it also -
Would this method start Kodi "inside" Retropie so when I exit Kodi it will exit into Retropie?
-
@RunsOnRum No, but you can create your autostart script to start Kodi first, then start EmulationStation - 2 lines instead of one.
