Display issues with old LCD monitor and DVI
-
So I have a small old (10+ years) 4:3 LCD monitor with DVI. It would be perfect for a small arcade cabinet. I use a HDMI to DVI cable. When I first plugged the pie in, I saw that it tried to find a resolution that fits, but it always said "out of range" and stopped. So I started configuring the /boot/config.txt. But I’m not 100% sure what I’m doing.
I set hdmi_drive=1 because I want DVI without sound
Because I know the monitor supports 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 I set hdmi_group=2
and tried hdmi_mode=4 (and later 9 & 16).
The monitor displays a picture for 5 seconds, but it is scrolling upwards all the time and then it stops displaying anything. Interestingly the monitor shows a resolution of 642x478 instead of the correct 640x480 before losing the picture. Any ideas? Thanks!

I am having the same issue, but my Monitor is 2 years old. i have tired every setting option in the /boot/config.txt. I am going to be looking at the HDMI to DVI adapter i have. That being said if there is any other place to change some stuff i would love some advise.
Thanks
