    Hey all, got a 3.5inch lcd touchscreen, works fine in raspbian, but when emulation station starts it switches to hdmi, tried everything to get it to work on the screen to no avail, can anyone help me please. Dont care about the touch screen part, just want to use to display the games

      Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, including what model is your LCD screen and how is it connected.
      Did you have to install any driver in order to make the LCD work ?

        @mitu it's a 480x320 xpt2046 touch controller, downloaded drivers fine and works fine with raspbian, just diverts image to hdmi when emulation station loads, it's on a pi b+ - first model.

            RetroPie is based on Raspbian Lite, so if it works with that version of Raspbian, then it should work with RetroPie.
            According to this post, you don't need to install a driver, just add a few lines to config.txt and this should be it.
            You haven't given much information about your system, really - what version of RetroPie are you using ? How did you install it ?

              @mitu I have used multiple ways, iso, raspbian then added retropie, all end the same, I'm running 4.6 latest retropie iso currently, I've added the config text aswell, retropie isnt working unless thru hdmi, it shows the command lines not the gaming menu etc. Seems to have been a common issue as many have same issue but I see no fix.

                Have you tried disabling the HDMI output or disconnecting the HDMI display ?

                  @mitu is there a way to force it instead of switching to hdmi in config

                    @mitu yep, doesnt change a thing, nor leaving hdmi off for whole process, loads fine then black screen

                      Try adding to your config.txt:

                      enable_dpi_lcd=1
                      display_default_lcd=1

                      If that doesn't work, then please post the config.txt file.

                            Glad you got it working.
                            For future reference (just in case someone has the same problem), can you post your config.txt file ?

                                @ryan-spicer seems to work but doesnt load all the title screen headers etc properly, in saying that it does play the games I've tried, not perfect but close :)
