Hi - thanks for any guidance.

My controllers (Xbox USB, Xbox wireless, SNES wireless) work fine in the menu but don't work in any games that I've tried. Did I miss a step in setup?

Its a PI4 from a pre-built image. Controllers are generics. I have tried in a variety of emulators (arcade, snes, nes, dreamcast, dosbox, genesis, daphne- none seem to work)

Please add some more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Did you configure your controllers in EmulationStation first ?

Yes - I configured the controllers in emulation station and that went fine - and the controllers work in the menus.

Its a Pi4 built from a pre-built image, purchased as an SD card on ebay. I have a full size arcade setup with 4 joysticks - which work, and have additional controllers. The controllers are Xbox and SNES clones (both wireless) and I have tried an Xbox wired as well. Let me know what else you need to know - I'm new at this so am not sure what else is helpful

          Thanks for attempting to help

We don't support 3rd party images - as outlined in the https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Ask the vendor for support or install the image from retropie.org.uk/download.
