      Hi Everyone

I'm trying to get my dosbox mapper to work on my Pi

      ( Not ir-Dosbox )

I understand clearly that when you press
Ctrl + F1 to bring up the mapper it freezez (it does on pi as well )

So on my PC I installed dosbox and use the mapper there to map my Gamepad controller controls " Mapped my D-Pad to the arrow keys and mapped "A" button to Enter and "B" button to Space

I then copy the new mapper file to my Pi

      In retropie/configure/pc

      I rename the new mapper " mapper-SVN.map"

      I rebooted the Pi

Start my dosbox and the game doesn't seem to recognize any change

Not sure if I did everything right

Hope someone may give me some advise to make my Gamepad work as a keyboard on dosbox

      Thank you all in advanced

From where did you understood that ? I tested it on a Pi4 and there's no freeze - you probably just need a mouse to operate it.

Start my dosbox and the game doesn't seem to recognize any change

How do you start the game ? Are you using a .conf file or just starting the .exe/.bat.

Please add some info about your setup - as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@mitu I apologize , I didn't mean everyone but it has happen to me and all the Pi's I have owned ... but you probably right that you need a mouse plugged in ... I do need to try that

I have a Pi 3 B ... fresh install with some games on dosbox

          Running them as exe

And haven't been able to get the mapper to work

Thank you for replying , Any advice ?

Can you post the mapper file (mapper-SVN.map) and the dosbox configuration file (dosbox-SVN.conf) on pastebin.com ?

I've looked at the files and they seem ok. If I copy you .map file, I can see that Enter is mapped to the button 1 and it works (the issue is that Enter has no mapping for the Enter key anymore, but that's another story).

Can you post the log file (/dev/shm/runcommand.log`) of running the game ?

I see there's a few errors in the runcommand.log and I don't see any messages from dosbox itself.

You should disable the onstart script for dosbox - which I think starts xboxdrv - and install the dosbox-sdl2 package (for a needed dependency).

After disabling the onstart script for dosbox, re-run the game and post the output (runcommand.log) on pastebin.com.

Thank you Mitu . I just deleted the xboxdrv and everything that made it working ...

my gamepad seems to work on the game now

                        i truly appreciate the help
