Hey... thanks! That worked. But how is that going to be feasible to do every time you want to play a game?

Are they working on a fix? Good to see it's not my files and I can continue with this build.

I have an iBuffalo SNES USB controller.

@mitu yes I have tried it both ways. Without updating and with updating and the problem persisted. Now we have some new info though with it somehow being tied to having a USB controller plugged into the pie at the time the emulator starts.

@jamrom2 I am not aware of any fix or anyone working on a fix.

            Also delete /opt/retropie/configs/atari800/lr-atari800.cfg

            And see if that helps.

(Making sure you are running the latest binary in RetroPie-Setup).

@BuZz I have tried that and there was no change.

@BuZz I will cover my set up again.
I have two raspberry pies, 3b and 3b+
                Multiple various micro SD cards.
2.5amp plus power supply. Can't give the exact specs because it is very hard to get to to unplug. It was specifically but I want to say its 3amps out.
Retroflag NESpie case and Super pi case.
I am running a fresh downloaded Sunday 4.6 image from the RetroPie website.
Controllers were Yok Sony Playstation Classic wireless controller and a Retroflag SNES controller. Dell USB wired keyboard

Originally I was following Valerino's alternate RetroPie-Setup script but it appears it had no bearing on the situation as the stock image from the RetroPie website had the same problem.

@BuZz also I have tried various updating and not updating of all parts of RetroPie, retroarch, lr-atari800, and emulationstation, retropie-setup script. Updating everything, not updating everything. Nothing seemed to really have an impact except not having a controller plugged in at the time the emulator launches. I am not aware of this affecting other emulators as I have not really tried them. I know that lr-vice does not seem to be impacted but that is the only emulator I have tried besides lr-atari800.

I'm going to stick with this thread as I have the exact same issue... and the same results when I unplug my controller. It works.

I also have a Retroflag MegaPi case....another thing we have in common with our units.

My controller is an iBuffalo SNES USB controller.

I'm on the same build.. and I pulled it down Sunday as well. I've updated my Retro-Pie Script to 4.6.7 and updated lr-atari800 via that script update option.

Maybe it's our cases causing an issue? But I don't see how. My last build before the 4.6 image everything worked without an issue, and I even had the 5200 and 800 running side-by-side.

@gpmcty can you try the same workaround from https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/27869/issues-with-lr-atari800-setup-on-new-build-worked-on-previous-build/15 ? It looks like a front-end (RetroArch) issue with the new style notifications and the lr-atari core.

Yes this work around worked for me as well. Thank you
