your system must be named jaguar and not atarijaguar Lr-mess is relly picky with machines names.
See my post above for es_systems.cfg and others
see : http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=jaguar&arcade_only=0&autosearch=1
for quick machine info with MAME/ Mess
Ahhh okay, I thought I could include this within my existing atarijaguar folder, I didn't realise it was so specific. Thank you!
-
you have to change everything for jaguar (roms folder, config file, emulators.cfg (also for virtualjaguar), ect. ) , excepted your theme.

There's no need to do that with the lr-mess-jaguar.sh I provided above. I have both lr-virtualjaguar and lr-mess-jaguar using the atarijaguar roms folder just fine.

@zerojay
With your method, I agree. It's maybe precompiled with some tweaks. Probably "enable softlist = off and maybe boot from CLI = off.
Did you have sound issues with some games like Double Dragon V or Rayman with this setup. Is It fixed? -
@zerojay
I read the script that you proposed and It's very nice!
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra/master/scriptmodules/libretrocores/lr-mess-jaguar.sh
People should use It. It's easier.
The two methods work. -

@zerojay I tried to install your scriptmodule, but it seems "run_mess.sh" script can't be found. It's supposed to be in ~/Retropie-Setup/scriptmodules/ but it's not...

@zerojay
In the jaguar.xml file , they identify sounds issues, black screens, gfx issue and more per video games for Lr-Mess.
Both of those emulators are less than perfect. A lot of issues with those two.
We have to test games and get the best emulator for each one of those. -

See above.

@DTEAM Are either of them currently supported?
-
@George-Spiggott
I don't know for lr-virtualjaguarIn whatsnew_0225.txt (2020-09-30) (MAME) Fresh from today
https://www.mamedev.org/releases/whatsnew_0225.txtWe can read:
-jaguar.cpp: Document alternate ROM labels for Maximum Force v1.02 [Brian Troha]Arcade game supported by jaguar.cpp, nothing big
Maybe somebody work on that
-
The VirtualJaguar developer basically quit right after someone from libretro was basically harassing him to try to get a core made and he wasn't interested in doing anything but working on his emulator. They basically made the core themselves in spite of him and the emulator didn't really get updated again after that.
I don't think anyone in particular is working on Jaguar support in MAME at the moment (beyond documentation).

Does anyone heard or tested the emulator: Project Tempest
It's seems to be an old emulator

It's a super old Windows only emulator that is only worth using for a handful of games, Tempest 2000 among them.

The last one seems to be a russian emulator

@DTEAM Yes, Phoenix is closed-source however.

I reinstalled lr-mess from Source and that seemed to fix this error. I then encountered other errors that I haven't got past yet, but I am further on from where you are at least..
Edit: I've just realised that I did the below before I installed the emulator in case this version of lr-mess was different in any way. This was on the back of this thread: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/25576/new-scriptmodules-lr-vice-xvic-gsplus-proper-lr-mess-integration?_=1601438647362
cd ~ mv RetroPie-Setup RetroPie-Setup-backup git clone https://github.com/valerino/RetroPie-Setup.git cd RetroPie-Setup sudo ./retropie_setup.sh
I don't know if it made a difference but I'll mention it anyway.

@AdamBeGood
I think You must did that on a fresh build
When I did that, It changed my config folder and I lost the capability to load my stuff.
You must do a real backup of your SD Card if you run those lines. -
I would highly suggest not running retropie setup from that repo as they may have other changes/be out of date/etc... and you are risking breaking your stuff.
Just cherry-pick the scriptmodules that you need from that repo and put them into your standard RetroPie-Setup.
-
@zerojay
Correct me If I'm wrong, but If you get packages from Valerino and not from Retropie or from source. You are not able to update Those after installation. Is It right? Why I'm saying that, is because you can run CD-I with those line, but with the recent MAME update, CD-I is down.
