Roms won't load on Pi 4 when booted to emulationstation
-
I'm having a strange issue with retropi on a pi 4. If the system is configured NOT to boot to emulationstation, and I start emulationstation manually, the roms load and run just fine. However, if I configure the system to boot to emulationstation, then the roms appear but cannot be loaded. It's like there is a process or environment variable or something that is set when xwindows starts that isn't there when booting to emulationstation. Has anyone else seen this problem? If I exit emulationstation, run startx and then open a terminal window and start emulationstation manually, it again runs the roms just fine again.

EmulationStation is meant to be run from the terminal, not directly from a desktop session - this is the configuration that we recommend and support.

@mitu I'm taling about something that happens after using the provided setup utility to set "boot to emulation station" If this is done, the roms no longer load

Please provide some info about your setup - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
If any errors appear during ROM launching, they'll be logged to
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
- try to get a verbose log and post the contents of the file on pastebin.com. -
@mitu I figured it out, I had to set the raspberry pi video output for 1920 x 1080, it was defaulting to 1360 x 768 and Emulation station couldn't work with that.
