ironically, the first one .. the more expensive one

the first 2 customer reviews claim it's fake.

and not great sounding reviews regarding read/write speeds either.

Personally, i only buy SanDisk ...good speeds, affordable and reliable.

@escc1986 when shopping on Amazon always check who the seller is. For things like SD cards that there are oodles of fakes in the wild always go for Amazon as the seller.

              @simpleethat

Wow a big thank you for the heads up

Yeah I almost always try for the amazon

However I was confused for this one , I didn't know accurately

I was at this guys YouTube channel and he recommended this sd card and had the link for it and I wanted to buy it ... it was the expensive one , however I wasn't looking to spend so high amount , so half the price was affordable for me and it's the better of the deal cause the other one might be fake

                Let the buyer beware...
Here is some extra info that shows it can be counterfeit even when it says "Sold by Amazon" on the description.

                https://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-amazon-counterfeits-20180928-story.html

When the SKU codes are the same, Amazon will save space by combining the inventory of multiple sellers for the same item. So sometimes a counterfeit can get put into the same bin they pull the 'Amazon' items from.

EDIT: Here is the reddit thread where I originally came across this subject.

for example i have been having issues for years , trying to buy Authenic Apple Cables and always get dupped ... where do buy to be safe from counterfeits (besides the apple store or apple website)

Get an USB3 stick and store your ROMs on it, it will be easier to store/transfer/backup your ROMs and your sdcard will also be easier to backup (smaller size). Plus, it's probably cheaper than a SDcard for the same capacity.

By the way, it is always a good idea to check any new flash medium for errors or a fake size. There are multiple tools for every OS out there, just search the web for "test flash drive" or similar.

On RetroPie itself you can use f3 - Fight Flash Fraud. You can install it with sudo apt install f3.

I wouldn't avoid Amazon entirely, it is just something you want to be aware and keep an eye on it. Buying in a physical store should be far less likely to end up with counterfeit items, but the price may be higher as well. If you do buy from Amazon, at least the items listed as sold by them should provide you a way to pursue a refund with less hassle.

I agree with @Clyde that wherever you get it, check it as best you can.
