    Hi,
I've made a rookie error. While configuring mame i've reassigned the menu button from tab to none!
No idea how to get it back and i've been googling for ages, please help!!

    Thanks,

I'm going to take a stab that you are using the non libretro mame4all (if not ignore this), your configs should get created in this directory
        /opt/retropie/configs/mame-mame4all/cfg

Check that directory - I think it will be called default.cfg. You can just delete it.

Please read the Docs before asking a new question.

apologies, it is mame4all. And yep, found the file and all is fine now.

          Thank you!

@floob I'm having the same problem but its with lr-mame2000. I've tried to remove and reinstall retroarch and lr-mame2000 but have had no luck. Any ideas? I was trying to map the enter button and had a glitch and now I'm stuck running the games, but not being able to access the config.

@retrogizmo Have a look in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/mame2000/cfg/ or /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/mame2000/cfg/ (or equivalent, I don't run MAME2000, depending where you are running them from) and delete the default.cfg file. This should be regenerated to stock when you launch another ROM.

Well I need to delete my cfg file in mame2003. Either using my Mac or using terminal on my pi, I can find the cfg folder, but it's empty.

So what am I to delete? Is default.cfg there but invisible? I'd think not.

I'm on RP 4.4 with a 3B+ and looking here for that file as per the above instructions: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/mame2000/cfg/

I enter the configuration menu of mame 2016 and try to adjust my keys. I accidentally set the "Select" key to null (normally set to Enter or Keypad button 1). Now I can't Select and enter any commands on the configuration menu. The only thing I can do is Tab out or navigate the menu items. I tried looking for the default.cfg from earlier post, but it doesn't seem to exist for me. I tried deleting the retroarch.cfg, but it doesn't affect the service menu keys. Please help, I don't want to reinstall the whole thing. Thanks.

@tcheng00 Please open a new topic with your issue - this topic is about older mame versions.
