<Mysteriously SOLVED> Ethernet no longer turning on at startup.

I have been setting up a new SD card using the 4.0 image on my Pi3 and all is going well. Transferred my ROMs, setup AdvanceMAME, lr-mame2003, lr-fba-next all to run out of Arcade folder. No problems at all.
Then, on a lark, I decided to install the Desktop. I figured, with my trackball, having a desktop might be pretty handy.
Install went well, rebooted OK, emulators still work, but now I don't have wired network connectivity. I am not getting an IP address. However, if I do a
sudo dhclient eth0it picks up the network immediately. What happened? Why isn't ETH0 connecting on a fresh boot? Did installing the desktop rewrite something? -
Well, I don't know what happened, but it's working now. I pulled my SD card, put in the old one, tried to see if I could find a change from the old card to the new, put the new one back in and now it's working.
Who knows. Sorry to bother.
