    Hello,

I also getting the message to update due an old Raspbian Stretced Based distribution.
Now i have a Picade console based on a RP3, what is the best way to update, preserving my settings, drivers etc.? I see the version of RetroPie is already 4.7.1.
What do i have to update?

    Daniel

Backup your ROMs, setting, BIOS files via file shares and then re-flash your sdcard with the new version. Transfer back the files from your backup and you should have a similar system to the one before.
You should also try to backup your whole installation - see the 1st backup option before, just so you have a 1:1 copy of your existing installation that you can restore.

For the drivers you have installed - you'll have to re-install and configure it again, the backup will not contain any drivers.

@deejay1974 If you had any BIOS files there, yes.
