Emulation Station no es_systems.cfg
-
I feel like this is the ultimate noob question, but I did a fresh install of emulation station on Windows 10 (want to migrate from Launchbox) and right off the bat the 'portable' and 'installer' versions are missing the 'es_systems.cfg' file.

What version of EmulationStation are you using and where did you download it from ? The RetroPie fork of EmulationStation is used mainly in RetroPie.
-
@mitu I went to https://emulationstation.org/#download
I downloaded both the Installer and Portable versions for Windows. The 'es_systems.cfg' appears to be missing from these packages. Unless I need to do something like add a game folder somewhere, then the .cfg file automatically creates itself, but the emulationstation how-to doesn't mention anything like this.

I'd say it's normal - you need to create your own
es_systems.cfg
, configuring the path to emulators and ROM folders as you have it on your PC.
Note that RetroPie maintains its own fork of EmulationStation, the upstream project is dormant and hasn't had any updates in quite some time.EDIT: A Win32 build of the the current RetroPie version can be found here.
