I've noticed that all the themes that i've currently tried have the gamelists listing all games in uppercase characters. I personally find this quite annoying. Is there anyway to display them as they are in the gamelist.xml ? (Title Case).

@windale It's those theme(s). You can always edit the theme. It's probably an XML file or config files somewhere depending on the theme...and the OS...and the front end you're using.

So for example, if i'm using the default theme that comes with Retropie, what do I have to edit to stop everything displaying in CAPITALS ?

@windale So you're using Rasbian (OS) with EmulationStation (front end) and Carbon (theme)?

Here's a thread about changing how the release date looks: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/28285/is-it-possible-to-just-show-the-year-of-release-for-a-game?_=1608831378408

            Here's info about the guts of a theme: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Creating-Your-Own-EmulationStation-Theme/ & https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Creating-Your-Own-EmulationStation-Theme/#creating-a-theme

Can anyone else help me with this please ? I am currently using the theme 'Eudora-Bigshot'. I have exited emulationstation and navigated to -

              /etc/emulationstation/themes/eudora-bigshot

and 'sudo nano' the 'common.xml' file. I changed 'forceUppercase' to 0. Saved and rebooted. The gamelists are still all capitals ?

Is there something else that has to be changed ? Why do so many themes use uppercase, it looks nasty.

@windale the force capital tag may also be in each system theme depending how it was programmed . It may not just be just in the common file. Might be easier to see by downloading the theme into your PC and looking at it there.

I've tried changing all instances of 'ForceUppercase' to 0 in the chosen theme in 'etc/emulationstation/themes' but they still have the gamelists all in uppercase. Is it caching it somewhere else ? Does anyone actually know ?

Is there anyway to actually change it to Title Case (not all capitals).
Can you recommend some good themes that aren't all in capital letters ? Cheers.

@windale There may be a bug in EmulationStation, but <forceUppercase>0</forceUppercase> is not correct, it should be

                      <forceUppercase>false</forceUppercase>

For the eudora-bigshot theme, just open the common.xml file in the theme's folder and remove any lines with <forceUppercase>, then restart EmulationStation (or chose change the theme to carbon and then back to eudora-bigshot).

Thanks for the straight answer. This works !! It looks so much better. I'm not sure why so many people like their themes gamelists all in uppercase letters ?
