      Thanks. It's this controller: http://blazeretro.com/atari-tv-joystick/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/atari-joystick-tv.jpg

That's not just a controller, it's a mini-console system in a controller case. Not sure if it works as a stand-alone controller, does it work on a regular PC as a controller device ?

uhm no, that's not inside this joystick. ok I see the photo is the "TV Version" I've got the "PC Version", but the joystick looks exactly the same. still I had to install the games via steam (and there is an audio issue, that makes them not fun to use either :( - but thats off topic :D ) with my pc the controller works without problems!

Does it have a manual/support document (the PC version) that we can look into ?
What do the following commands show, when entered from the command line ?

          cat /proc/bus/input/devices
          lsusb

Can you try testing the device with jstest, from the command line, and see if it registers the inputs (buttons/joystick moves)

          jstest /dev/input/js0

You can interrupt the test with Ctrl+C.

thanks for the support, here are the results

            cat.jpg

jstest - how long is it supposed to run it doesnt seem to finish on it's own?! here after about 10 mins (it's of course js2):

            jstest.jpg

I haven't found a manual for the pc version of the stick yet.

The program does not run tests on its own, you need to press the button/joysticks and see if they register - it will be shown on screen if the state of the button/axis/hats change.

To stop the program, as I said, you press Ctrl+C.

If the joypad doesn't respond to input changes, then it means it's the inputs recognized by Linux's joypad driver for Xbox 360 (xpad). Try re-installing the driver from RetroPie-Setup, it's under the drivers package section. After re-installing the driver, reboot your Pi and try again to configure the gamepad.

Did you, by any chance, installed also the xboxdrv driver package ?

@aenima No, it shouldn't be needed. if your controller is compatible with an Xbox 360 controller, then it's handled by the xpad driver. The xboxdrv package emulates an Xbox 360 gamepad and I just wanted to make sure you're actually testing your gamepad and not the one emulated by xboxdrv.

Hi everyone! I have the same problem. Searching for a solution since many months. The joystick works fine under Windows 10. Only on reteopie it won't. Any thing else we can try?
