Psp emulator icon not appearing on Retropie
-
@vodkanakas hi sorry for late reply had problems connecting to WiFi, I deleted psp emulator installed from source an installed the psp ppsspp emulator from binary but there was still no psp image icon when I restarted retropie, anything else I can try? I installed the ppsspp emulator rather than the lr-ppsspp one, is that the one you used?

@peldiego7111 Did you copy any games/ROMs in the
ppsspp
folder ? If you don't have any games copied, the system doesn't show.
Did you install from the image at https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ? -
@peldiego7111 If you have ppsspp and lr-ppsspp installed and roms in the appropriate folder, is psp minis title showing in the es systems config? I had similar issues after removing both lr ppsspp and ppsspp due to a foul up that I was trying to correct, when I put them both back, no psp minis on the menu.
adding this to the es systems config fixed it
<system>
<name>pspminis</name>
<fullname>PlayStation Portable Minis</fullname>
<path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pspminis</path>
<extension>.iso .pbp .cso .ISO .PBP .CSO</extension>
<command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 SYS psp %ROM% </command>
<platform>psp</platform>
<theme>pspminis</theme>
</system>as to which to use? lr is a bit pants with some of the more demanding games but seems happy with the minis. So I mainly use lr for minis and some of the easier stuff, and the non lr for more demanding games. lr is easier to configure for the most part.

@mitu hi yes I have game roms in the newly created psp folder in a USB drive in my Rasberry Pi 400 . Still no emulator icon for psp appearing on Retropie. I copied the image from above link given to me by raspberry pi hut team on to a micro sd card, (I'm on the Rasberry Pi 400) other emulator icons and even installed ones like c64 are on my retropie. I tried from installing form source and now have psp emulator installed from binary. I have not tried the lr-ppsspp one. Anything else I can try?

What files did you copy ? Show a listing of the files from the
psp
ROM folder. -
@mitu hi i only put 2 roms in to start with to check to see if it worked, in psp folder on usb drive in my Rasberry Pi 400 are : roms
Activision hits remixesd (USA) (v1. 01). zip
Hot Shots Golf - Open Tee 2 (USA) (Fw3. 96).zip
Is that what you mean? -

Yes.
.zip
is not a recognised extension forpsp
, so the files are ignored. Look in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/PSP/ to see the supported extensions - if the files in your ROM folder do not have one of those extensions, then the system will be empty. That applies to all systems/emulators/platforms, so make sure you check the files you copy against the documentation page for that emulator/system. -
@mitu thank you, so I take it I have to look for cso, iso and pbp files only, not zipped ones. Will have a look for some now. Can you tell before you download if it's a zip file? Sorry I'm a complete novice at this.

It's just like downloading anything else - If the link has the file name, just look at the extension, otherwise look at the file that's being downloaded and see how it's saved.
-
@mitu thank you, all the psp roms I can find seem zipped so far. Or it doesn't say. Sorry I'm useless at this. Will there be unzipped ones on Web to download? or will I need to unzip then ( that sounds difficult) I only have the Rasberry Pi 400).
-
Zip files can be unpacked. They're probably compressed to save space and bandwidth.

@peldiego7111 i used the lr-ppsspp but since your issue was the files were
.zip
that makes sense too. glad you got it figured out.
