Yes, it should be possible - I think you need to switch the RetroPad to Guncon in the input option to use the mouse in lr-pcsx-rearmed.

Thanks - that's encouraging. However, that alone did not make the trackball/mouse work.

        Here are my settings:
Quick Menu --> Options --> Pad 1 Type: NEGCON
Quick Menu --> Controls --> Retropad w/ Analog
Main Menu --> Settings --> Input --> Input User 1 Binds --> Mouse Index 0

Not sure if there is something I am missing. Or is there something incorrect with these selections? Do I need to unplug the PS3 controller that is plugged into the pi? Or any of the other USB accessories (keyboard, I-Pac)?

@cander19 said in PS1 using mouse instead of lightgun?:

Quick Menu --> Options --> Pad 1 Type: NEGCON

Guncon, not Negcon. Try cycling through the mouse index if that doesn't work.

Hmmm, I don't seem to have that option. The choices are 'default', 'standard', 'analog' and 'negcon'. I am running retroarch 1.8.8, not sure if Guncon was added later? Or is there another area within RA that allows me to select Guncon?

Add more details about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

I have the trackball and have "guncon". Perhaps you have an old version of lr-pcsx-rearmed. In any case the problem is the crosshair not visible :(

Yes, I updated the emulator and I have guncon now too.

@cander19 Did this ever get resolved? I seem to be having the same issue. I'm in Point Blank right now and here are my settings:

                    Options > Pad 1 Type > guncon
Controls > Player 1 > Device Type: RetroPad w/ Analog

I can see that the mouse does work when I hit the mouse button, but there isn't any crosshairs or any indicators that appear on the screen to tell me where the mouse is pointing.

                    Is that normal?

                      @tpr that I know, unfortunately yes :(

I posted this question here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/23533/lightgun-support-added-to-pcsx-rearmed/66?_=1611938447644
