Can someone tell me how to skip the ES loading system config screen at startup or is this function important?

Just for quicker boot times.

You can skip the splash screen display by adding --disable-splash to the start-up command (in autostart.sh), but that's not going to speed up booting - EmulationStation still needs to read each system's files/gamelist on start-up to show you the games.
