      I was looking at this:

Re: Migrating a working RetroPie setup to the new Stretch image

I've installed extFS on my Mac to easily copy stuff from my old SD card (Stretch updated to Buster 4.7.1 on the Pi, but I'm not sure it went smoothly) to my new imaged card. This list in this post seems pretty straightforward, but does anybody know where the Favorites list in ES is stored? I don't want to have to recreate all my favorites again if I can help it. I see an es_systems.cfg file, but I don't see my favorites in there.

Any ideas? Or even an update to the list in that post for moving to 4.7.1 from 4.5.1?

@strells collections reside in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/collections/ so if you backed up the tree /opt/retropie/configs you should be fine.

And thanks for not necroposting the old thread you are citing. :-)

The favorites are stores in the gamelist.xml file of each system. As @Lolonois said, if you copy the config you should be alright.
