      Hi,

Reicast was working fine until I upgraded to RetroPie 4.0. I then upgraded to 4.0.2 and still have the same issue. Now games do not load (screen goes black and then back to emulation station). Roms and bios have not been moved or changed. I have made no change other than updating RetroPie and the setup script. Other emulators are working perfectly fine.

      Some logs extracts:
      /dev/shm/runcommand.log

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::logic_error'
      what(): basic_string::_S_construct null not valid
      /opt/retropie/emulators/reicast/bin/reicast.sh: line 85: 11982 Aborted "$rootdir/emulators/reicast/bin/reicast" $params -config config:image="$ROM"

lvl2: Added known joystick Microsoft X-Box 360 pad (instance ID: 0, device index: 0)

      Tested with reicast, reicast-audio-omx, reicas-audio-oss.
      Controller: Xbox360
      Pi Model: Pi3

      I tried doing "cd RetroPie-Setup
sudo ./retropie_packages.sh reicastinput", but it tells me there is no such thing for rpi3.
      I deleted /opt/retropie/dreamcast/emu.cfg, no change.

      How could I fix this?

Same thing was happening for me. Reicast worked fine and then one day it did not work. I could not find any answers so I ended up uninstalling it. Good luck on your search.

the reicastinput configuration is available from manage packages -> manage optional packages -> reicast -> configuration (and also from the configuration / tools section on main retropie-setup menu)

Thanks for the advice. Actually I just set reicast_input to 0 instead of 1 in /opt/retropie/configs/all/autoconf.cfg and now it is working properly. It could be linked to the fact that I have both a gamepad and a keyboard connected. Not sure. Anyway thanks!

How did you get the reicast working? Same thing happened to me, worked on 3.8 but now isn't on 4.0. Do I need to actually configure the input? Is that what's getting it to work?

@unity_313 You can try what I described or what BuZz described. It was definitely controller related, so try plugging only one and reconfiguring it and see if the games load.

It was just that. I only had my wireless keyboard plugged in and it didn't recognize it as a game pad. Hooked up my snes pad and it booted right up. I had that realization in the middle of the night and then you confirmed my suspicions right before I got up and did it. Thanks man for everything.
