Using Analog Sticks for 8-Bit Stuff?
-
I really enjoy the moments where I get to use my analog stick on my 8bitdo controllers, but I was hoping there would be more instance I can use it. As of now, most classic 8-bit or 16-bit stuff forces me to use d-pad. While I do enjoy the for some games, I would love if I could just jump my fingers down to the sticks and keep right on truckin. Is it possible to have a dual setup somehow that allows me to use the analog sticks for d-pad only games (but also use the d-pad if/when I'd want to)?

In the Retroarch 'Controls' menu, change your Port controls 'Analog to Digital Type' = 'Left Analog'.

Beautiful, thanks! They really should just set that on by default, so it gives people the option without having to change anything. Really enjoy this!

@alphabetapie You will not want to enable this for systems where the analog and digital controls are independent. For example, on PSP and N64 the control pad and analog joysticks on the actual systems are not interchangeable. (Analog joystick controls are separate from digital joystick controls and provide different inputs)
Enabling this option for these types of controllers/systems would cause dual input problems.

Good point.
