Anyone Else Having CD-ROM Sound Trouble?
-
I've noticed on a few CD-ROM based games, I'm getting no sound. Radical Rex on Sega CD has sound effects but no background music, and neither does MK3 or Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PSX. And the zip files are all originals. I have not touched the cues or bins. Is this normal emulation hiccups or something else?

@alphabetapie don’t run zip files and make sure the bin name matches what’s inside the cue file. For psx, you can also use .pbp files that work fine as well.

Thanks for the tip, that was indeed the problem. I've always just left my normal roms zipped up, didn't realize that this would cause an issue with the cd-rom based games like for PSX and Sega CD.
Quick question. I tried just using CHDMAN to clean up my Mortal Kombat 3 directory (since there was over 30 bin track files), but I feel that the audio is slightly more delayed than when I just leave the bin/cue files as-is and upload them to the rom directory. Is that just my imagination, or is that known to be the case (since everything is packed into a CHD file and takes a second longer to access by the emulator)?

@alphabetapie possible, the chd is a compressed file. It might take a tad longer to start streaming the CDDA. I have no experience with Chd, so no idea.
You can also put all the bin files with the cue in the main psx rom folder. Emulation station only looks for cue files, so the bin files don’t slow up.
