I've seen some people have success with Ipega controllers. Does anyone have a 9083 connected?
It has 3 modes (switch on the side), "Android Direct Play", "IOS Direct Play" and "Android Standard".
I've tried both Android modes, using the different security types. The blutooth menu does say success and shows the controller as paired (for either android mode). I did setup the udev rule as well.
Regardless, whatever combination of settings I use, It is never actually recognized in the main emulation menu, ie I can't map the buttons.

Just to add, Retroarch doesn't see the controller either. I have seen some posts that say that either emu station or retroarch have limited functionality. I have no functionality on either one.

This looks like a mobile only gamepad - if it's not identified as an input device by Linux, it will not work in any application that expects a standard gamepad/joystick device to be present.

@mitu Yeah that seems to be the case. I really wanted to find a clamp (nintendo switch) style controller that would work with RetroPi, but them all seem geared towards android/ios phones. I have the perfect 7" 4:3 screen to use if I can find the controller.

I know this is way late, but I actually found a way to use the Ipega 9083S on my Raspberry Pi 4 running Retroarch. After the initial Bluetooth setup, manage your drivers and install the sixaxis driver. When that finishes, go to the configuration that shows up and enable third party controllers. Worked like a charm for me.

Also late to the party, but I'm making a Pi 4B powered handheld
and wanted to use this controller for my project.
But before I buy this controller, I wanted to be sure if it would work.

So as long as I install the sixaxis driver, this Android only controller will definitely work ?

                Thanks in advance.
