Cheat not turning off in Pokemon Emerald

Hello all, I recently put a cheat code "7881A409 E2026E0C 8E883EFF 92E9660D" to walk through walls into my pokemon emerald game on retropie. When I turned the cheat on, it worked fine, but when I turned it off in the menu, the ability to walk through walls stayed even though it was supposed to go away. When I exited the game and restarted it, the problem seemed to go away, but I don't want to have to deal with it at all. Does anyone know what's happening?
