Skyscraper / Steven Selph's Scraper working on some builds and not others???
-
Really strange issue with multiple scrapers NOT working on new builds. Both Skyscraper and Selph's scraper will not update on fresh builds but an existing RetroPie install (that's been updated so that all are running same versions) works fine. Only difference is the initial build timing.
Original build (that works) is on a 3b and the new builds are both Pi Zero W's (going in Retroflag GPI cases). I'm not doing anything fancy on the install...standard download and install of pre-builds for the hardware, update via setup.sh and pulling everything online, and copy some ROM's over. Even rebuilt the 3b on a different SD card and it wouldn't update...back on the initial SD and it works, so doesn't seem to care or matter on the hardware. New builds don't work, updated old build does...same versions across the board.
Have read a lot in other threads about SrcreenScraper site congestion, so I registered an account + config'd the INI in SkySkraper but still timing out and retrying. Logs in fine, grabs a non-anonymous thread and then times out. Been retrying over a period of a week to see if congestion was the issue but still nothing. (screenshot below)
Final odd bit is that the built-in RetroPie Scraper (in the GUI) and hitting ScreenScraper works across all builds...so it doesn't appear to be source site(s)?!?! Same network/firewall/wifi on all builds and has worked fine in the past (months back but its been a while)
Thinking it could still be site API's and perhaps the built-in is using a different method that still works? Would love to avoid having to hit "accept" hundreds of times on the built-in scraper and use the command line versions.
Thanks in advance.

Skyscraper seems to work fine here, using an account configured or not (anonymously). I don't have a Pi 0 configured to test, that might be a factor. Do other scraping sources work, have you tried TheGamesDB as scraping source.

The built-in scraper uses the same API, without an account registered. If you wish to scrape without being asked for confirmation, uncheck the 'user decides on conflicts' option at the beginning of the scraping operation.

@mitu thanks very much for the great tip! I had become so used to using the command line scrapers that I hadn't looked into this.
To your question, other backends also fail and that is probably the biggest factor in why I think it's a local config thing but can't put my finger on it.

@edillenback I'm so glad someone started a thread on this. I'm playing with a fresh Retropie build (that I downloaded from here myself) and just tried this Scaper. I'm having zero luck. I watched this video below and followed the instructions and still no videos. If I use the built in scraper, I only get screen shots.

@drdave79 Just wish I had better news for you. I'm still having issues with both command line scrapers on anything but my existing build. The built-in GUI scraper does work and isn't bad after I took @mitu 's advice of unchecking the 'user decides on conflict' but that won't help you with videos.
Has to be something about the build process on my end but I'm doing pure vanilla installs and still have no idea what it could be.
Have you tried Skyscraper?

Yes, I've tried both. Same result.
