To RPi users who routinely update with:

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

EDITED for accuracy: A new RPi kernel/firmware update dropped on Jul 27th. If you install the changes, it is possible to get a Kernel Panic and your Pi will not boot if your /boot/config.txt includesgpu_mem=512 or a similar large value.

      Hope this is helpful.

I'd say this is not accurate - there seems to be an issue when you have gpu_mem set to a very large value (which was never recommended nor supported anyway, even on the Pi4).

One of the perils when updating to the bleeding cutting edge firmware.

Unless it is really needed I advise to stick to a kernel and firmware that works well on your setup and make it permanent and use a more cautious update than full-upgrade.
