    I am trying to pair an 8Bitdo NES30 Pro (v1, not v2) gamepad with my Raspberry Pi 4 Retropie.

    The process is very clunky. Pairing often fails. Sometimes it does not find the gamepad. When it is found, quite often it fails to pair.

    The gamepad is now being listed as paired, but it is not connecting.

    I do have the gamepad bluetooth MAC address. I wonder if there is a way to fix these issues by editing some config files.

      Not that I know of, you'll need to get through the pairing process.

        Thanks I managed to do it in the end. What I will do now is a backup of my RetroPie SD card!

          @pmdci

          One thing that Iv'e read should improve (some)things is editing this file,

          sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/bluetooth.target.wants/bluetooth.service

          look for a line like the following and make it like below.
          (maybe make a backup copy of the file first if you want)

          ExecStart=/usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd --noplugin=sap

          Iv'e been messing around with RPi4 bluetooth and my DS4 controllers recently and that is now part of my setup steps.
