Wanted to create a compact retropie installation and was inspired byt he builds inside a SNES or NES cartridge. However, I already had a ShortCrust Plus case, and realized that I could fit everything in a smaller footprint with a few modifications.

      0_1474391469400_IMG_20160915_160222482_HDR.jpg The Case, before modifications

0_1474391494683_IMG_20160915_160255212.jpg Used a jewlery file to carve out spots for the switch, the new power power supply. That's it!

0_1474391570456_IMG_20160915_160236013_HDR.jpg Also drilled a hole for the power re-route.

0_1474391593279_IMG_20160915_160320146.jpg Used a shortened micro USB cable intended for the 1st generation Chromecast. Cut off the USB side and the data wires.

0_1474391684498_IMG_20160915_160426303_HDR.jpg Not ideal, but it works, and keeps the stock Raspberry Pi 3 un-modified. It can also be removed from the case.

0_1474391731180_IMG_20160915_160438317.jpg The power switch fits nicely between the display header and the top of the case. Took my time ensure it fit well.

0_1474391809085_IMG_20160915_160638920_HDR.jpg Now you can see the Mausberry "bring-your-own switch" board, and the new power supply. The cable for the power supply fits with just a bit of trimming on the stress relief part of the cable, and the Mausberry fits over the heatsink. I'll cover the back with electrical tape after connections are soldered to make sure it wont short out.

0_1474391938245_IMG_20160915_160632584.jpg All that remains is to wire it up. I plan to solder a JST cable between the short micro USB cable and the Mausberry, so they can be disconnected. There is a 5v and Gnd solder point on the back of the Mausberry board. I also plan to use two jumpers on the GPIO for the Mausberry in/out wires, but solder the other side permanently to the Mausberry. The switch will also be permanently soldered to the Mausberry.

0_1474392151052_IMG_20160915_160706986.jpg With that completed soon, she'll be ready to rock & roll!
