Hi all - just wondering if there's a reliable source (in the UK preferably) for a USB-to-Atari joystick cable?

    I'm guessing that a generic USB-to-9pin Serial won't work?

    Thanks.

@greyareauk I am not sure about UK-based companies but I bought mine here and he does ship internationally. Just a thought in case you can't find something where you are.

This is the best adapter I have used and I now own 3 of them because I use them so often and in different places. The Arcade cabinet has 2 and I have a 3rd for my emulation laptop. PLUS I own a pair of Vision-dapters from there as well - one for the cabinet and one for the laptop.

EDIT: I got sick of ripping them out of the arcade cabinet to use them in another spot then putting them back so the investment was totally worth it. That's why I own so many of them. Also of note the Vision-daptor will work with Atari 2600 joysticks but not paddles. If you're just looking for joystick games then one adapter might be able to do it all for you. From the website:

      • Intellivision, original & flashback - dongle available for using INTV-1 controllers without having to modify the cable

      • ColecoVision, original & flashback, Super Action including spinner, Driving Controller

      • Sega Genesis: 3 & 6 button d-pad & arcade stick

      • Sega Master System: d-pad, Sports Pad (3040) in both Control & Sports modes, Paddle Control (HPD-200)

      • Atari 2600 joystick (sorry, no paddles)

      • Atari 7800 joystick & joypad

      • TI-99/4A - both joysticks

      • Magnavox Odyssey 2

      • Fairchild Channel F

      • MSX & x68000

      Enjoy the ride!

@classicgmr Thanks for that - I'll bookmark it. I'd still prefer a UK based outfit if possible (import duties, etc) but I suspect that may not be possible outside of eBay (which I'd rather not use).

          @greyareauk
          Amazon
I just tested the older version of the MayFlash Mega Drive adapter with my 80s atari and quickshot II joysticks with no problems (apart from the lack of buttons for navigating ES)

One of the reviews mentions a firmware update is needed for the new adapter to work with atari sticks
