Genesis Plus GX Lag on RPI2
-
I just install retropie on my raspberry pi 2 and the games have lag (Quack Shot, Sonic).
IIs raspberry pi 2 powerful enough? -
@micky72 How powerful is your PSU? Be sure to use at least a 2.5A Power supply
-
I use Genesis Plus GX for Sega CD, Master System and Megadrive and I don't have lag or performance issues on any of these systems. My Rpi2 is overclocked a bit, but even when running from stock these particular systems should run ok. Check your runcommand render resolution settings, by default on 3.7 it's set to whatever your default video settings are from /boot/config.txt. If you are running in 1080p you could try reducing the render res to 720p, or whatever to increase performance.
See here:

Thanks

@Brigane i m using a usb cable connected to TV. When the power supply isnt 2.5A the raspbery isnt at full speed?

If it can't get enough power it will display a multi-coloured square at the top right, and will disable turbo mode so performance will be affected. I doubt a TV usb port would provide sufficient power and you should definitely try a dedicated PSU to see if that helps.

A while back I tried with a usb cable from Pi to TV and it also gave me the multi-coloured square, so I highly recommend you to buy a decent Power supply.

Completely agree with the above, don't bother running your Pi off the TV, use a dedicated power supply for it. You might not need one which is 2.5A, depending how many peripherals are connected to it (the more peripherals connected, the more power will be drawn). Mine is 2A, I have a wi-fi dongle, Picade board, and second controller connected to it and it's absolutely fine.
However if you are making a purchase, you might as well buy an official 2.5A Raspberry Pi PSU so you can guarantee you have enough juice.
