Getting a PS3 controller to work with Linapple emulator; tearing my hair out! HELP!!
-
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
PS3 controller works fine in Retropie and in all other game emulators so it is setup properly. Just not sure how to set it up with Linapple.Would be grateful! :))

For Linapple, I think you need to configure the joysticks in
linapple.conf
(see here). From what I can tell, you'll need a keyboard to operate the emulator anyway, the joystick will be used for games that have joystick support. -
mitu is of course absolutley right.
I had a real Apple // in the early 80s and can confirm that quite a lot of games did not have joystick-support at all.
Joysticks were rare and expensive during that period, not everyone had one like in our days ;)
And you had even to open the Apple 2-Case to connect a joystick, the port was on the mainboard :D -
@sirhenrythe5th @mitu thanks guys! Ill give it a go and get back to you! :))

@mitu I went ahead and rather than edit my own config, I just dumped the config you linked above. Backed up my original one. Seems I can now use my PS3 controller! However, I still dont have buttons mapped correctly. Is there a resource that you know of that shows the button mappings of the PS3 controller for the config file? Wondering how Retroarch button mapping links to the "Joy0Button1, Joy0Button2, etc. of the config file.

@rspeaker You can look up the RetroArch's configuration profile for the PS3 controller in
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads
and see the button values there. I think Button0 is B (south) and Button1 is A (east). -
@mitu Yeah! I got it! I also ran JSTEST to see what button is which number. Since Apple Jsticks only have two buttons was very simple to figure how to map the two button numbers to my desired physical ones. Thanks again!
