Is it possible to somehow set different default emulators per sub folders? So for example, I set up a "Favorites" console that could play any rom sort of like the arcade console. Then I would have sub folders listed as NES, SNES, GAMEBOY, etc. What I would like to do to make it easy is to be able to set a default emulator in each of those subfolders.

@HoolyHoo: This isn't really what you were asking for, but you could set a 'favourite' folder in each system and just put your favourite games in that folder. So instead of:

            • 3do
            • atarilynx
            • favourites
              • 3do
              • atarilynx
              • gb
              • nes
            • gb
            • nes

            You would have:

            • 3do
              • favourites
            • atarilynx
              • favourites
            • gb
              • favourites
            • nes
              • favourites

This way you would still have your favourites separated by system and they would each use the correct emulators. It just means you would have to search 'system/favourites' instead of 'favourites/system'.

Thanks @mattrixk. I had that as my second choice of what to do. Wondering if a script that would read 'favorites' console roms on boot and then generate needed hash to amend emulators.cfg would be possible?

@HoolyHoo: It's an interesting idea, but not something I have any knowledge about unfortunately.

I'm not sure if it's possible to do what's been discussed so far.

What should work though, is when the emulator is starting there's a box that comes up and you can press 'a' to go to a config page and you can set a different default emulator for that game, as well as some other settings.

Obviously this could be a pain to do for A LOT of games, but if you have that many games you want to change the default emulator for, there's a way to change the default emulator for a whole system (I'm not really sure how to do this but I remember seeing it can be done).
