    Read several post re USB controllers/keyboard becoming unresponsive after a period of idle to no resolve. The issue I'm having is that after a period of inactivity anything plugged in to the USB become unresponsive including a keyboard. The caps and num indicators no longer illuminate

    I've had my Pi for a few years now, the only thing that has changed is a new SD card due to the old one being corrupted some time ago. Never had these issues before, I've fallen asleep several times during gameplay and was able to wake both myself and my pi back up and continue on

    no changes to config other than disable_overscan=1 and the no frills overclock I've been using since day dot.. Removing the below lines does not make any difference.

    arm_freq=1500
    gpu_freq=500
    core_freq=500
    sdram_freq=500
    sdram_schmoo=0x02000020
    over_voltage=6
    sdram_over_voltage=2

    Also tried an old install of 4.6 and latest 4.7 to no resolve

    Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
    Power Supply used: Genuine Pi 4 3v 5A
    RetroPie Version Used - clean installs of both 4.6 and 4.7
    Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
    USB Devices connected: Windows Keyboard
    Controller used: Ps3, USB SNES,

    Any suggestions on troubleshooting would be appreciated

      Is the keyboard working if unplugged and then plugged in back ?
      You can look at the system log with dmesg (after exiting EmulationStation) if that's so, otherwise you can enable SSH to be able to run any command on the Pi.
      Run dmesg after the issue occurs and look at last lines to see if any USB related errors/disconnects show up.

        @mitu Thanks for the reply, got frustrated with it and hadn't been bothered playing around..

        Works fine if I remove the overclock, then again I haven't let it sit in ES overnight to see if it crashes or freezes

        Also using a cheap memory card at the moment so until I rule that out as the cause not a whole lot else I should be doing, I'm not ready to blame the overclock, was very stable for years of use

          @kwthomas88 it probably is the overclock. Just because it worked before doesn't mean it will work now. There has been lots of changes to the system kernel etc.

            @BuZz which was my first thought however I installed the original 4.6 that I had on file from way back when.

            Don't know too many 3b+ that wont run 1500 with 1-2 overvoltage with a pi4 power supply

            for N64 emulation I had this unit running stable all the way up to 1575 with the ice tower so from a hardware point of view doesn't make sense
