    I was testing a PSX rom on the desktop version of Retroarch today using the scph5501 bios. On the desktop, it gives me the familiar PlayStation splash screen at the beginning, then loads into the games title screen. However, when I use the same bios and the same rom on Retropie, it skips the normal PlayStation splash screen and loads directly into the game. I know the desktop version uses lr-beetle (which Retropie uses lr-pcsx_rearmed instead). I'm just wondering why it behaves differently from desktop to pie, and if that's normal.

      @AlphaBetaPie on RetroPie it is disabled by default but it can be enabled under core options in the RetroArch GUI or in retroarch-core-options.cfg with:

      pcsx_rearmed_show_bios_bootlogo = "enabled"

        Note that enabling the BIOS boot logo may break some games, that's why is disabled by default by the pcsx_rearmed core.
