Trying to enable root so I can actually have sound
-
Having issues getting in with root creds. I have no audio via HDMI and from what I am reading, root creds and some config file changes can fix this...but after following link 1 below to do the thing in link 2 below, I can't SSH with root creds even after setting the password, and yes I know the password is correct... Lol I'm a systems engineer with tons of Linux experience and I have no idea why this is so difficult, and why sound out of the box is not a feature...
Trying to do this: https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/FAQ#why-cant-i-ssh-as-root-anymore
So I can do this: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/sound-issues

wouldn't "sudo" work from ssh as pi? i.e. sudo nano /boot/config.txt?

I have sound now, it's just stuttering and skipping

This usually means the system isn't powerful enough. Which Pi and which emulator? If you're running a libretro core on Pi Zero this is expected.
If the sound fades in and out, try setting
config_hdmi_boost=11
inconfig.txt
to boost the strength of the HDMI signal.Otherwise, reply with the Read This First info.

@agentfazexx also what is the amperage of your power supply. If you dont have enough amps you can have audio issues as well.
