Did an update recently to retropie from 4.2 to 4.5. Raspberry Pi 4B. I got an error ref refs/heads/fkms_rpi4, but then it proceeded into an OS update. It took most of the night, but once finished and I booted back up, the games no longer work. All the menus and games list are still there but once I select a game I get a blank screen, and nothing comes up. Any ideas? Thanks

The fkms_rpi4 branch was a development branch created 3 years ago and used to test PI4 support. It was not used for official installations or part of the RetroPie image - whatever installation you have, it's been using a development branch that's no longer available.
I suggest you install an official image from retropie.org.uk/download if you wish to use the latest RetroPie version.

@ChetBWDG76 I'm gonna say that the major part of this problem is that you are updating a SUPER old version (4.2) of Retropie to a Really old version (4.5) of Retropie. Both of those versions are on OS bases that are long, long gone. Do those versions even run properly on a Pi 4 to begin with? RPi 4.5 was the 'beta' version for Pi 4 support back in 2019.

@mitu thank you, I’ll give that a shot. I thought it would go straight to 4.7 when I hit update but it went to 4.5. Don’t know.

@ChetBWDG76 No sure how you updated you system, since any release before 4.5 didn't support the Pi4, it wouldn't even boot up.
If you're using a 3rd party image, not from retropie.org.uk/download, we don't support it, as noted in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@mitu not sure what exactly happened or why, but think I’m just going to wipe the micro SD and start over with 4.8. Thx
