upgrading Pi 4

Right now, i have noobs with LibreElec Recalbox and lakka install on the card. for any upgrades on the Pi 4 firmware, do i need the raspberry Pi4 desktop in order to do my Pi upgrades when It needs it. I have a keyboard connect to the Pi 4 whenever i working on it.

I know that eeprom firmware update need Raspberry Pi OS. I don't know if the other operating systems install this with some way or not.
