Re: hdmi to component CRT Help..runcommand
I would like to invite the colleagues to try the scripts I wrote to to switching the output video to run the Retropie with CRT display
Some of the features:
- Ability to switch modes on the fly accordingly with the specification of emulated hardware
- The games will run at 240p accordingly with the platform specs while the emulationstation menu works at 480i mode.
- Works with either PAL or NTSC.
- Correct pixel aspect ratio.
- If you want to play at the big screen, you can easily switch back the behavior or HDMI back to HDTV mode.
Feel free to download the tool and tryout. advices are very welcome.

is this for Pi4? Pi3?
-
If it relies on
tvservice
for video mode settings, it will work with Pi3 or later, not on a Pi4.
It's a nice script - I like the quirky error/info messages (may want to spell check some of them :) ) - that automates the settings inconfig.txt
and saves some pre-set configurations for RetroArch. -
@mitu , correct. The script makes all the calculations and applies then with tvservice. My apologies about some misspelled words, english is not my native language. Feel free to make some correctins if you want.
Unfortunely, I don't own the Pi 4. I would like make the scripts also compatible with that model as well. But unfortunely this kind of eletronic, lastely, has become more and more expensive here in Brazil.

@cjuniorfox Is possible to use this with a RPi4? I can't do it using the classic Retropie with my RPi4 and with my transcoder from HDMI to components and then to my CRT TV. With a RPi Zero is easy to do it, but with a RPi4 have been impossible for me :(
Can I use this for a RPi4 and have 480i?

No, it only works with the Pi3 or eariler models.
-
@mitu :(
So, there's no way to use RPi4 in a CRT TV? I mean, I wanna know more about this cos I don't know what else I can do with this... so if I can't use Retropie in my Pi4 with a transcoder from HDMI to components... can I use from HDMI to composite?
Thanks in advance!

No, that's not what I said - I mentioned that the script provided in this topic doesn't work with a Pi4.

Please open a separate topic about your problem and add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. To connect via composite, you don't need a transcoder, the Pi already has a composite video output.
-
@mitu Oh, I see. Do you know if is possible to use the Pi4 with Retropie in a CRT TV?
-
@rsseguel Yes, it's possible.
-
@mitu Oh, what's the right way to do it? I mean, what do I need to do it? I just only have a transcoder to use it from HDMI to components but I really don't know what do I need to use my CRT TV with Pi4 cos I know with that is impossible... I guess.
-
I want to know it too, I have a rpi4 and several CRT TVs.
-
i use my Pi-Models 1-3 with CRTs (1x Samsung / 1x Bang&Olufsen)
Of course i wanted to connect the Pi4 also with my CRTs, but i only tried it once and burried that idea.
At least concerning the composite out.
Maybe i had bad luck and my Pi4/the AV-socket is broken, but the picture was H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E!!!I am still searching for a verfied method to connect with better quality (Gert666, Pi2Scart etc.), but did not find anything that runs out of the box without any issues or performance loss :[
