I followed the directions given on
      https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/RetroPie-Ubuntu-16.04-LTS-x86-Flavor
and installed Retropie on a VM with Ubuntu 16.04. EmulationStation is automatically set to start. It comes up and and says no gamepads detected which is true because I do not have any gamepads connected. It does allow me to configure the keyboard. The problem I am having is that after configuring the keyboard the "ok " button is highlited but I cannot go any further.

@wscol this is very cool. I'm aiming to dual-boot when I get a new PC - have to have Windows, but want to live in linux-land.

RetroResolution. I switched to running Linux Mint mainly because Ubuntu kept crashing.
