Hi everybody. Sorry if this is not 100% related to Retropie, but after uncountable hours searching the net I cannot find anything.

So far, I have a RPI 3B Plus with Retropie installed following the steps in this website, AND I want to install Open Media Vault or any other software that makes me able to access the files through internet.

I have seen plenty of tutorials for flashing OMV in the SD card, but that is not what I need. I need my children to be able to keep retrogaming with Retropie as a base and then to be able to activate the NAS at my will, for being able to access to some big files from another country. I think it would be ideal if it shows up in the "Ports" section, like Kodi does.

Does anybody have a tutorial? I am really frustrated and tired of hitting my head against a wall, lol.

      Thank you!

@Rad_Schuhart I'm not sure I understand what your trying to do.

My best guess is that you have your roms on the rpi, and you would like to have them exposed on your nas (will not go into the 'why this'). Your nas would then be active or not depending on your needs, but even if the nas is off the retropie machine should still have access to the roms.

If my train of thought is correct, why wouldn't you mount the retropie share on your nas, so the nas access the folder which is actually on retropie and retropie will always have access to it because it is not in the nas?

Of course, this is assuming your nas can mount windows shares locally.

        Making sense?

The question is how can I turn my RetroPIe into a NAS accessible from the internet, not how to access the RetroPie shares from an additional NAS.

Hi guys, sorry it I was not 100% clear.

What I am trying to do is, while having Retropie installed, I would like to be able to use this Raspberry as a NAS too.

But it is not for sharing what is inside of the SD card, neither the roms. It is for sharing photos of my children to my parents, which live too far away, and also for being able to make another safe copy in their house. So the plan is they can access to that HD with 120gbs of pics, download the files and store them.

So far I think openmediavault might be the thing I am looking for, but if you know of any easier way, I am all eyes.

@Rad_Schuhart Sorry I didn't quite get it the first time, you're looking for something like this?

              https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-openmediavault/

Consider that retropie is running already on raspbian, and defult l/p is pi/raspberry if this has not changed.

Just for completion, is going to have an impact on the performance of emulationstation, so check if your kids are still happy with their gaming experience :-)

Disclaimer: I have not tested the method described on the page above.

Maybe something like NextCloud/OwnCloud would work better for installing onto an existing system (like the RaspiOS Lite upon which RetroPie is installed).

@mitu If you have any tutorial that even a monkey can follow, I would appreciate it a lot!
