Configure Scrapper to save gamelist.xml and images to roms/<system> folder.
-
The doc states...
Navigate to Manage Packages > Manage Optional Packages and select scraper. You will navigate to the Choose an option for scraper window. Select option C Configuration / Options.Unfortunately, the above stated options don't exist. From the Retropie Setup Menu option, navigating from Manage Packages > Manage Optional Packages and select scraper only lists two options, Install scrapper and help. There's no options as stated in the docs.
-
@GameCodingNinja you have to install it first, then the configuration options will become available.
-
I did try to install it, since it was the only option available, but it failed. But why do I need to install what is already there? I'm using it.
-
@GameCodingNinja If you feel like it, you might want to give this a try:
https://github.com/zayamatias/retroscraper-rpie
copy
retroscraper.sh
to your
~/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary
And find the retroscraper menu in the optional packages.
Thanks!

Challenge excepted!
Just an FYI. I'm using the latest build for my PI 3.
I did as you suggested and now I have a config menu for the retroscraper but no option in the list to save gamelist.xml and images to roms/<system> folder.
Another FYI. The reason scrapper wont build is because there's a compiler error. Missing reference in client something, something.

@GameCodingNinja Cool!
The 'retroscraper' by default will save the gamelist under each system folder (otherwise I believe emulationstation won't be able to pick them up) it will create 3 folders, images, videos and marquees, and the corresponding medias will be stored in each folder...
Not sure about scraper not building, are you talking about retroscraper or another scraper?
-
Problem solved.
I updated retropie setup and after all that, was able to build the scrapper and got my option. Sweet!
Thanks for everyone's help.
-
Wow, I can't win.
I'm now able to select the config option for scrapper to save gamelist.xml and images to roms/<system> folder and what does it do? Still saves it to /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/
Maybe it has to find the files there first. Testing...
-
@GameCodingNinja Sorry to insist, but have you tried the 'retroscraper' scraper??
If you put '.' (just the dot) as media directory it will save images and videos alongside your roms
if you put './directoryname' it will save them under a directory called 'directoryname' (chose the one you'd like) under your roms folders for each system
If you do not put anything it will create 3 subdirs (videos, images & marquees) under the roms folder and save the corresponding media in each of the folders.

I installed 'retroscraper' but it looks to be a Python command line utility. I'll give it a try.
Adding this extra level of polish is starting to become more trouble then it's worth.
-
@GameCodingNinja if you installed retroscraper.sh as I've shown, you should see a menu under retropie setup, optional packages, near the bottom, retrosctaper. Go to the configure option and it should be very easy to use.
