Nintendo relaunching the NES!?!
-
@meleu It's not like that it's funny when teenagers hype up all that 8bit stuff.
-
NES paved the way for gaming today. For Nintendo to bring back the NES, there must be a demand for it. I have heard people who do not even game want this, so it should say something. I for one already have the original NES and tons of emulators and roms yet I still want this and I can't wait to get it. This will probably be selling like hotcakes.

@PetroRie
I think I know how you feel. I am this kind of guy that doesn't like hype.
But I have a son (13 years old) and a nephew (10 years old), and I love when they wanna play NES/SNES games with me.I won't buy this mini-NES! Not exactly because it's mainstream, but because it lacks many features and, since it's branded "closed" product, doesn't estimulate tinkering to implement such features.
To be honest, I would be happy if more and more teenagers were able to take a Raspberry Pi, install RetroPie, and tinker a bit to do some crazy gamming projects (like those we see here in the forum).

Most people want to play these games again to relive the feeling it gave them when they were kids. To me, it was an ever-expanding world that existed in trying new techniques to win, reading strategy guides and discussing it all with my friends while trading ideas and hopes for the future. Ironically, I only ended up finding that feeling again in working with the Raspberry Pi itself. The ability to play the games afterward really became secondary to the overall experience of getting them to work well in the first place.

And another one here! ; )

Better yet when they are active in the community, sharing their time and talent. Like you guys do. :-)

I wonder what happened to pre-orders in the US (which is where I reside)?
Maybe a production error is halting Nintendo from doing anything except making trailers over here... -
@RetroPieNerd I'm on the fence about this. I want one but it might be a Wii situation. Everyone wants one but no one has them. What if it is just a raspberry pi inside?
-
It could be something similar to the RPI or the hardware of the original 3DS, since they both use ARM processors...
-
@RetroPieNerd I tried to make a theme based off the ui of the Mini NES. It did not go well.
-
Oh well, maybe someday the little thing will be available...
-
There are ton of young teenagers who play NES. My 14 yr old plays it... Looks like NES and SNES are still the dominant force! :)
-
@kevinmac It is how I pass the time in study hall. Ninja Gaiden and TMNT 4 to be specific.
-
@lilbud Good choice mate.
-
I might take a crack at making a NES Classic Edition UI theme as well in the near future, maybe by modifying the Pixel theme in the EmulationStation mod that @jacobfk20 has done...

Happy Nov. 11!
#NESterday -
Nes Classic is sold out online and all my nearby stores. Best Buy is stripped of the NES Classic. I really want this thing. Long live retro gaming.
-
The nes classics are on ebay with bids over $300. I should have camped out....
-
I was able to get one at midnight, and was tempted to put it on ebay, but instead, I have been playing it.
they did make the manuals available, man Final Fanatasy 1 manual is huge!
the system seems to work well, and I enjoyed playing with the CRT filter, it really felt like the old days then
