Hi there. Im runningn cannonball port using Retropie on a Rapsberry 3B+.
Everything is good except for the hiscores that are not being saved. After the initial installation the file \RETROPIE\configs\ports\cannonball\hiscores.xml did not exist. i mannually copied from a windows cannonball installation. The hiscores.xml seems to be good as the attrat mode shows the hiscores that i mannually updated in the file. The problem I have is that hiscores.xls is not being updated once the record is entered after the race ...... have some of you happend to have this problem?

The hiscore.xml file is not created on install, but it's saved after you've finished a game and get on the board (first hi-score). The new hiscore will also have the course position where the score was obtained.
What version of RetroPie are you using ? What's the Cannonbal version (from the About menu) ? You should add some info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

That's strange, because using the same version (installed from source) I don't get the behavior you're describing. hiscore.xml is created after I get an entry on the board and exit the game.
Can you check the permissions on the /opt/retropie/configs/ports/canonball folder and the hiscore.xml file within ?

I did check and updated (just in case) file permissons. It seems to be a permissons issue since if I mannually update hiscores.xml, during attract mode the board shows the names and scores I manually set. So, cannonball can READ the file but is not able to WRITE into the direcctory.

Well...you mentioned something important..." hiscore.xml is created after I get an entry on the board".
Im using analog controls and I'm not able to input the initials as the intensity of the pedal is not strong enough to hit the inital. So...the initials left in blanks despite my score was the first in the table.
Wel...seems that, oposite to arcade version, empty initials is not a valid record....concecuentally hiscores.xml was not updated....
Changing analog controls to digital let me entered initials and the hiscore table was succesfully updated...
                PROBLEM SOLVED.
                THANK YOU
