Dolphin fails to build on x86_64
-
Can you try removing the
speexdsp
library on your system and see if the installation works ?sudo apt remove libspeexdsp-dev
-
@mitu Ok, tried done that, but got basically the same error:
pastebin.com/6fADHk5E -
The only error I see is related to the
speexdsp
libraries - if not installed,dolphin
should use the library bundled with the sources, which I assume would work.Can you clean first the sources before attempting a re-install again ? I see in the 2nd log that you've re-run the installation, but the old build configuration may still apply.
-
@mitu Sorry I was not aware that I had to do that.
Still the error was reoccurring. The log file is getting bigger, so it only fits in three pastebins:If it is of any help, I may just reinstall retropie and try again. Although I just installed it a few days ago and haven't really changed any settings.

@mitu Sorry I was not aware that I had to do that.
No problem, it's not a rule, but in this case it helped getting over the the initial error reported.
The error now appears later on and it seems to be caused by using an older compiler - Dolphin seems to require something newer now. We'll have to tackle this in the build script.If it is of any help, I may just reinstall retropie and try again. Although I just installed it a few days ago and haven't really changed any settings.
If you're thinking of re-installing the system, then I suggest using Ubuntu 22.04 instead of 20.04. Installing works there.

@mitu Ok. Installed Ubuntu 22.04 and it is working. Thanks for your advise.
I got the controller set up in dolphin using this: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/28062/gamecube-dolphin-not-recognizing-controller-input?lang=de
And everything is working, except one thing:Maybe you know an easy tip on how to run games fullscreen? When I start them from emulation station they are always windowed, but when I start them from the dolphin emulator directly they are fullscreen. I checked my configuration file:
->Advanced Configuration->Manually edit non RetroArch configuration->gc/Config/Dolphin.ini:
Fullscreen is set True
so same setting as in dolphin. But for some reason it doesn't seem to work. -
@Zirom44
Have you used the runcommand dialog to switch the default emulator fromdolphin
todolphin-gui
? -
Thank you! That worked perfectly.
For anyone who wants to do the same:
In the configuration:
->Advanced Configuration->Manually edit non RetroArch configuration->gc/emulators.cfg:
change
default = "dolphin" to default ="dolphin-gui" -
You can do the same from the
runcommand
launch menu - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/#runcommand-launch-menu - the choices there are remembered, you can change the emulator every time you want. -
@mitu Yes, thanks. I knew I saw this setting somewhere else.
So I think this problem is now all solved.Thanks for all your help and I wanna express my excitement: This forum is really well maintained and offers great help quickly, which is not as usual as it should be, when you search for something online. And from what I've read so far you do a lot of it. So props to you!
