Re: Select and start to exit game still not working

I am having same issues and have followed videos closely but still cannot get the Hotkey to work on the controller. Works fine on the keyboard.

I also don't understand what is meant by the PS key in that thread - sorry I'm a newby!

Please add some info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

What kind of controller do you have ? Are you trying to assign the Hotkey enable button to a dedicated button or to an existing one ?
FWIW, PS is dedicated button present on the Playstation 3/4 controllers.

          Hi

Sorry it was very rushed - should have had more detail.
          Pi Model: 3B V1.2
          RetroPie Version: 4.8
Built From: Pre made SD Image using RasberryPie Imager
          USB Devices connected: 1xKeyboard, 2 x Joysticks
Controller used: Non-branded 8 button arcade stick controller
          Error messages received: Noone
Guide used: Youtube 'How To Map Arcade Controls On RetroPie - Arcade Cabinet Tutorial - RetroPie Guy'

Hotkey Enable is being assigned to same button as 'Start' button - but perhaps that is my issue? Should be Select button?

Yep that was it! Was getting my Select and Start buttons confused.

Setting the Hotkey to the same key that I had assigned to Select (and not Start) fixed it.

            Cheers
