Help getting X arcade joystick working properly
-
Hi, I have a Raspberry pi 4 and I believe running Retropie v4.7.2 / emulation station v2.96RP. I have a newer X Arcade joystick that emulates X box wireless controllers. I can configure the X Arcade, and the joysticks/buttons all work in the menu/emulation station. When I go to run a game in an emulator (Mame and others) the game will come up and give me the following error message 'X box 360 wireless receiver (1118/673) not configured'. Then with the rom running none of the Joysticks/buttons will work on the X Arcade. Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thank You!

Try updating RetroPie and it's packages, then re-configure the X-Arcade joystick.

So I went into 'Fix my build' and chose/ran System update and upgrade. It downloaded / unpacked / and installed files and went back to emulation station. I then went into 'Retropie Setup' and chose update and it came back with 'Are you sure you want to update installed packages?'. I chose yes. Then I got the message 'Update failed: error: your local changes to the following files would be overwritten by merge: scriptmodules/system.sh. Please commit your changes or stash them before you merge. Aborting
Do I have to save changes some where before the package update will work? Or do I have to use a SFTP program to rename or move scriptmodules/system.sh in a certain path in the file structure? Thank You!

This means what it says - you modified some files in your RetroPie-Setup installation. How did you install RetroPie ? Did you install additional modules or modified some of the RetroPie installed ones ?

A buddy reached out to me because I have a Raspbeery pi 3 running Retropie. His was working fine but he messed around and screwed it up. He asked me if I could help him fix it. He was trying to set up his controller for a game and it didn't work. He said he went to a menu 'Reset all controllers / joysticks' and then it went to a Linux screen for a 'Yes' commit. After that the 'X box 360 wireless receiver (1118/673) not configured error appeared. I'm pretty sure that was all he did to cause the problem.

For those following here's how I fixed it: Options -> Fix my build -> Supreme Fixes: Chose 5 - Restore Supreme opt file library, Chose 7 - Repair Supreme & Power systems, Chose 10 - Reset Retropie Controllers config. At this point the X arcade joystick is bricked. Power cycle Raspberry pie. Emulation station comes up - configure X arcade joystick. Hope this helps someone - Thanks!
